Going the Distance

Students who take distance-education courses don’t necessarily live a long distance from the college offering them. A study by the governing board for South Dakota’s state universities found that 42 percent of the students taking online courses were living on the campus of the university that offered the courses. With online education continuing to grow across the country, many students find that technology is a good way to avoid a commute to a classroom or an early-morning rise to attend a lecture.
