Friday Eye Candy: Bird-Watching in High Design

The Mattabeseck Audubon Society, a Connecticut chapter of the national bird-conservation group, commissioned a group of Wesleyan University architecture students to design and build a bird-viewing platform over a former cranberry bog in Portland, Conn. The observation platform, as depicted in these pictures, is a nice blend of modern aesthetics and natural elegance.
“When other students were enjoying the spring season, the architecture class was knee deep in mud and water, swatting mosquitoes, and dripping with sweat or rain,” Alison Guinness, the chapter’s president, said in a news release. “We were impressed by their architectural skills, professionalism and dedication to the project.”
