Dropout Info
Every year, it seems, we get lots of stories about the grueling process of college applications. We hear about piles of AP courses, volunteer work for the resume, music lessons, sports, and civic activism. In truth, though, the profile applies to a tiny portion of high school students, and if we look at the opposite end, the dropouts, we find much bigger numbers. These are 2005 figures from the U.S. Dept. of Ed.
Here are pertinent demographics.
Graduation rates for males: 67.8 percent Grad rates for females: 75.3 percent.
Grad rates for Asians: 81.3 percent Rates for whites: 77.6 percent For hispanics: 57.8 percent For blacks: 55.3 percent For Native Americans: 50.6 percent
