Cdigix Joins Internet2
Cdigix, a music- and movie-download service that caters to college students, has become a corporate member of Internet2, company officials announced today.
The company will use Internet2’s high-speed research network “to develop innovative content distribution and federated identity management technologies that will play a critical role in the future of online digital media,” according to a news statement. By joining Internet2, Cdigix will be able swap tips with a few of its peers in the antipiracy business: The Recording Industry Association of America and the Motion Picture Association of America have already become corporate members of the consortium, as has Ruckus (The Chronicle, September 23, 2005), another company that offers legal downloads to students. —Brock Read
