Can Macs Stay Virus-Free Without Help?

Should Mac users be forced put antivirus software on their machines before they log on to campus networks?

In an attempt to keep their networks from being flooded with viruses and malware, many colleges require students to install specific security programs. But some Mac owners have suggested that they should be exempt from such requirements—because antivirus software could cause problems on their computers, and because the vast majority of viruses are built to exploit machines running Windows.

Campus computing officials continue to insist that Mac users install the programs, though, arguing that malicious programmers could target them at any moment. (Lawrence Journal-World)
