Antioch College Takes Another Step Toward Reopening Its Doors
Antioch College alumni seeking to reopen the Ohio college took formal possession of the shuttered campus in a signing ceremony this afternoon that ratified an agreement, reached in June, in which the alumni paid $6-million to Antioch University for the campus, its small endowment, and a nearby nature preserve. But the college, which the parent university closed in 2008 after years of increasingly frail finances, won't be reopening anytime soon. Buildings on the campus need millions of dollars in repairs, and some may be demolished. Admitting applicants and educating students are at least two years away.
