America's Top Job: Software Engineer
Fears about finding a job may have helped drive students away from computer-science degrees, but the quality of the jobs that are out there may soon bring some of those students back.
Tech professions, after all, fared awfully well in a list of the "best jobs in America" put together by Money magazine and Salary.com, a business-software company. The list -- which weighed factors like how much stress occupations cause and how much flexibility they offer -- concluded that IT analysis, technical writing, and engineering were all among the most desirable jobs in the United States.
The country's luckiest workers, according to the study, are software engineers -- whose field evidently has a bit more growth potential than does America's second-best job, college professor. (Money)
