Academic Advising, Now Automated
The University of Kentucky’s Gatton College of Business and Economics has replaced its four academic advisers with a computer program that helps students plot their own academic courses.
Campus officials say the software, called Apex, will tell students which classes they must take to earn their degrees. But the advisers—who have been told they can apply for new jobs that monitor students’ progress—aren’t all that confident in Apex, according to the Associated Press. —Brock Read
