A New Response to the RIAA
The Recording Industry Association of America says it has had some success with its "pre-litigation" settlement letters for alleged copyright infringers. Out of the 400 college students who were sent the letters, 116 have agreed to settle, reports the Associated Press.
But now the RIAA is getting flak about the letters from another college, according to Slashdot. Officials at the University of Nebraska at Lincoln, who had already informed the association that they cannot find many of the students targeted for alleged violations, are asking the RIAA to pay them for their time spent carrying out its requests. --Dan Carnevale
