A Chicken in Every Pot, and Wireless in Each Classroom
Jason Boots, president of the Student Senate at the University of Kansas, may be one of the first successful college candidates to run on a pro-wireless platform: During his campaign, he promised to expand the campus’s network to include a number of unconnected buildings.
Now Mr. Boots is trying to make good on that promise, according to The University Daily Kansan. The student-body president is working with the university’s IT officials on a plan that would bring wireless Web access to high-traffic classrooms, labs, and common areas.
There’s still one matter that Mr. Boots has to solve, though: how to pay for all the new wireless access points. The Student Senate may seek funds from campus departments—or it may have to press for a small tuition increase. —Brock Read
