4 Higher-Education Leaders Receive $500,000 Grants From Carnegie Corporation
The Carnegie Corporation of New York on Monday honored the leaders of four colleges and universities with its Academic Leadership Awards for 2009. The winners -- who receive grants of $500,000 each to be used in support of academic initiatives -- are Leon Botstein, president of Bard College; Scott S. Cowen, president of Tulane University; Amy Gutmann, president of the University of Pennsylvania; and William E. Kirwan, chancellor of the University System of Maryland.
