Higher-Education Company Cooks Up Deal for Famed Culinary-School Brand

On Wednesday, days before a Hollywood film about Julia Child, the famous graduate of Le Cordon Bleu cooking school in Paris, hits America's movie screens, the Career Education Corporation announced that it was buying the rights to the brand in the education-services field for the United States and Canada for $135-million in cash and stock. For the past 10 years, Career Education has paid as much as $20-million annually to Le Cordon Bleu International to license those rights.
