Amazon, Microsoft, and Yahoo Join Battle Against Google Books Proposal

Scholars aren't the only ones worried about Google Books' expansion. Amazon, Microsoft, and Yahoo are teaming up with groups opposing Google's proposed agreement with book authors and publishers, which is still awaiting court approval, The New York Times reports.

Judge Says Ohio U. Professor Was Not Defamed

A former associate professor at Ohio University, Bhavin V. Mehta, has lost a defamation lawsuit that he filed against the university after it concluded in a report that he and others had permitted students to engage in “rampant and flagrant plagiarism” in theses for more than 20 years, according to The Columbus Dispatch. The university had argued that the report's findings were protected by the First Amendment, and a judge in the Court of Claims of Ohio agreed.

Fund Raisers' Uncertainty About the Future Grows, Study Finds

Fund raisers’ confidence is “at or near record lows,” a new survey by Indiana University’s Center on Philanthropy has found. According to The Chronicle of Philanthropy, the group's faith in their ability to raise money has plummeted.
