One of the country's most-prominent experts on faculty members' working lives is stepping down next week from her long-term research post at Harvard University's Graduate School of Education.

Cathy A. Trower, 53, helped found and direct the school's Collaborative on Academic Careers in Higher Education, which has become a major source of information for institutions about what professors like and don't like about their jobs.
