Yale U. Will Return Contested Artifacts to Peru
A dispute between Yale University and the government of Peru over the ownership of artifacts and human remains recovered from the ancient city of Machu Picchu has been resolved. Under an agreement announced jointly by the university and the South American nation this month, Yale will return some of the relics to Peru and will retain others as part of a research collection.
