Yale Scientists Identify Odor Genes in Fruit Flies

Scientists at Yale University have identified 16 genes that control the odor receptors in fruit flies, the first such genes ever discovered in an insect.

The development, which is detailed in a paper in the February issue of the journal Neuron, should improve the understanding of the genes that control the olfactory system in humans and may even provide a way of controlling insects that carry deadly diseases
