Women Making Gains in Astronomy
Women are gazing at the stars with a professional eye in ever greater numbers, according to a survey released last month by the American Astronomical Society. Although men still dominate the ranks of full professors -- a June 2000 survey, also by the society, found that only 5 percent were women -- the increasing numbers of younger women in the field could portend a change in its gender mix.
