Students at Wittenberg University received a text message last night warning them about an armed suspect on the Ohio campus, according to the Springfield News-Sun, a local newspaper.
Police officers soon determined that a group of students, armed only with toy guns that shoot “soft projectiles,” had been participating in a birthday prank. Students on the campus then received a second text message that said: “All subjects have been apprehended and the weapons recovered. No threats were made.”
It was not immediately clear what punishments, if any, the students would face. —Eric Hoover
