With Role of Lincoln U. Diminished, Barnes Foundation's Art Collection Could Soon Be Moved
The little-seen collection of Impressionist and 20th-century art owned by the Barnes Foundation could soon be moved to a more visitor-friendly site in downtown Philadelphia, now that Lincoln University has agreed to relinquish its control of the foundation.
Trustees of Lincoln, a historically black institution in Pennsylvania, agreed to give up the right to name four of the foundation's five board members, and to allow the artworks to be moved from their current home, in Merion, Pa.,
