Winthrop U. Renames School for Richard Riley
Winthrop University's College of Education became the Richard W. Riley College of Education last month, as officials dedicated it in honor of the U.S. secretary of education and former two-term governor of South Carolina.
Mr. Riley traveled to Winthrop -- where his chief adviser, Terry K. Peterson, gave this year's commencement address -- to rechristen the college. "I am proud to be linked to the outstanding work of Winthrop," Mr. Riley said.
