Will Diversity Improve Education or 'Dumb' Colleges Down Instead?

Clearly, Roger Clegg has never taught a diverse group of students ("Why I'm Sick of the Praise for Diversity on Campuses," Opinion, July 14). ... As an assistant professor of ethnic studies and children's literature at California State University at Hayward from 1997 to 1999, I was treated to ... dynamic and engaging classroom encounters that were brought about by the fact that C.S.U.H. actively recruits students from a variety of backgrounds.
