Why Some Colleges Webcast Commencements, and Others Pass
This spring, dozens of colleges offered live video Webcasts of their commencement ceremonies. But other colleges have decided not to do so, citing the technical limitations of transmitting video on the Internet.
The University of Miami broadcast its 2000 spring commencement on the Internet. But this year, its Web site offered instead a 30-minute, edited, videotaped version of the ceremony. It was made available four days after the event.
