Why Community Colleges Must Reach Lower
COMMENTARY
Perhaps the momentum for higher education's arms race really took hold when U.S. News & World Report began its college-ranking system. Early on, key measures of quality involving financial resources, along with such measures of reputation as student selectivity and peer assessment, were scored and weighted. Academic excellence was an algorithm that could be reduced to exclusive rankings.
