The February 20 article "Taking Cash From Tobacco Will Cost Researchers" brings to my mind what must surely be an unintended consequence. By shutting off support to scholars who do tobacco research supported by companies involved in tobacco products, the American Cancer Society could hinder development of new medicines derived from plants -- biopharmaceuticals. ...
