Whose Genes Are They, Anyway?
A prime tenet of U.S. law is that we cannot be forced to incriminate ourselves. It is becoming more and more common, though, for our own DNA to reveal information about us that we may not want to become public. For instance, recent DNA tests on Thomas Jefferson's descendants have suggested that Jefferson might have had children with Sally Hemings, one of his slaves.
