Who's Afraid of Strunk and White?

Are all grammarians grumpy, or just the ones who write for The Chronicle? Geoffrey K. Pullum gives some good reasons for disliking Strunk and White's The Elements of Style ("50 Years of Stupid Grammar Advice," The Chronicle Review, April 17), but some of his characterizations of the book ("overopinionated," "bossy," "silly") apply to Dr. Pullum's own article.
