Who Should Receive Financial Aid?
To the Editor:
Michael S. McPherson and Morton Owen Schapiro sound the alarm that both governments and colleges are increasingly adopting financial-aid programs aimed mainly at more-affluent students ("Gaining Control of the Free-for-All in Financial Aid," Point of View, July 2). The authors say that we "need to undertake a national effort to restore the commitment of colleges and governments to the principle of meeting students' financial need." I agree
