Who Should Pay for Students' Birth-Control Pills?

It is truly unfortunate, yet profoundly amusing, that we still live in a time when providing coverage for the birth-control pill is flippantly referred to in The Chronicle's online Colloquy as "underwriting whoopee" ("George Washington U. Adds Birth Control to Health Plan," September 13). If we really want to get down to it, am I not technically "underwriting whoopee" (or the result of it) when my property taxes support ... my county's school system? Since I do not
