Who Cares About Race?
To the Editor:
I read with interest Naomi Schaefer Riley's "The Risks of Multiracial Identification" (The Chronicle Review, November 10). Having moved to Hawaii from California in 1974 — to a place where there is no majority race from a place where I was a distinct minority — I want to offer this perspective: Hawaii is already a true melting pot and a place that may well forecast the future of race relations.
