White House and Congress Reach Compromise on Temporary Visas
The White House and Congress last week agreed on a compromise bill that would raise the cap on the annual number of temporary visas available to foreigners to work in academe and other industries in the United States.
Aimed at better training American workers, and eventually reducing dependence on foreigners, the legislation also would provide up to $22.5-million annually to create as many as 10,000
