White House Liaison to Black Colleges Resigns

Charles M. Greene, executive director of the White House Initiative on Historically Black Colleges and Universities, sounds almost as frustrated with his job as some college leaders are with the office he heads. As a result, he plans to quit in October, after just over 18 months in his position.

Mr. Greene announced his plans to resign this month at a meeting in which he came under fire from the advisory board that he works with. His job description includes producing an annual report
