When a Woman Becomes President
To the Editor:
Your coverage of Harvard University's choice for president, Drew Gilpin Faust, is infuriating ("Harvard's Historic Choice," The Chronicle, February 23). Throughout the article, speculations about whether Ms. Faust manipulated her relationships with individuals at Harvard in order to gain the post detract from what should be a celebration of her achievement. Would we be worrying whom she invited to dinner if she were a man?
Indeed, do we really think it's possible
