When Students Are Mentally Ill

Kevin Drumm's Opinion piece, "When Open-Access Colleges Enroll Mentally Ill Students" (July 7), offers a compelling though limited look at working with troubling students.
An underlying tone of fear permeates Drumm's essay. Drumm conflates violent behavior and mental illness in ways that risk perpetuating the stigma facing individuals who struggle with mental illness... .
