When Students Abandon Pets

"These Student Requests Are a Different Animal" (The Chronicle, October 13) reminded me of a related issue concerning students and companion animals. I live near a major urban campus (the University of Miami), and my heart is broken daily over the plight of pets, especially cats, abandoned on the campus.
