When Institutions of Higher Education Are Both Catholic and American

As a Catholic, a product of 20 years of Catholic education, and a professor for over 30 years, I am convinced that implementation of the draft guidelines for implementing Ex corde Ecclesiae passed by the Catholic bishops, particularly the mandatum and the required policies for hiring faculty members, will have undesirable and paradoxical effects ("Bishops Approve Controversial Rules for Catholic Higher Education," November 26).
