When Faculty Unions Want to Have It Both Ways

Keith Hoeller's scathing and insightful survey of how adjuncts are faring in the academic labor market locates us somewhere between farmworkers and the so-called B men in the longshoremen's union ("The Proper Advocates for Adjuncts," The Chronicle Review, June 16). In terms of pay equity, we resemble junior members of the International Longshore and Warehouse Union, who do the same work but receive substantially less pay and benefits than the so-called A men.
