When Adjuncts Lack Academic Freedom, All Professors and Students Suffer
To the Editor:
I was distressed to see that Jordan Kurland, the general secretary of the American Association of University Professors' academic-freedom committee, finds it acceptable to have weaker protections for the academic freedom of adjuncts than for the academic freedom of tenure-track faculty members ("To Many Adjunct Professors, Academic Freedom Is a Myth," December 10). Apparently, the A.A.U.P.'s official position is that it will accept the lower membership dues of adjuncts
