When 'Academic Progress' Isn't
Public relations, more than any other motive, seems to drive the National Collegiate Athletic Association. Before analyzing the association's new Academic Progress Rate, let's look at why the NCAA, with great media fanfare, released its list of how various colleges measured up according to that rate -- many with good academic results, a minority with negative ratings -- in late February.
