What We Can Do to Keep Students From Dropping Out of College

To the Editor:

It was good to see that retention of students is again taking center stage in higher education ("Colleges Struggle to Keep Would-Be Dropouts Enrolled," October 8). Students accepted by a college should have a reasonable expectation that programs and services will be available to help them achieve their academic and personal goals.
