What Have We Learned From the Use of Animals in Scientific Research?

In "Lives in the Balance" (The Chronicle Review, January 26), Seth Perry fails to tell readers where animal dealers such as his parents obtain the cats and dogs they sell to laboratories, to be force-fed poisons, addicted to chemicals, infected with diseases, and subjected to invasive surgeries.
