We Are Smarter Than Our Students
I'm standing at the blackboard writing out words used to define the elements of fiction: "plot, character, setting. Irony, metaphor, symbol. Climax. Denouement."
The hum of chatter rises from the cluster of students over my right shoulder. They've been disruptive since the class began, since the semester began.
