Washington Supreme Court Upholds Aid for Students at Religious Colleges
Washington State's Supreme Court has upheld the constitutionality of financial-assistance program that allows students to use state grants at private colleges with religious affiliations. A lower court had ruled that the program violated the state Constitution's requirement of church-state separation, which is elaborated in more detail than the similar provision in the First Amendment to the U.S. Constitution.
