Washington State Lawmakers Relinquish Some Tuition-Setting Power to Colleges
A little last-minute maneuvering among Washington State legislators has accomplished what years of debate failed to do: They have relinquished some control over tuition at public colleges.
As a result, the governing boards of the state's public colleges expect, for the first time in decades, to have a say in determining tuition levels for the coming fall.
