Was It Hit and Run or a Terrorist Attack?

A recent graduate of the University of North Carolina was arraigned this morning on charges of purposely hittting nine students on the Chapel Hill campus on Friday while driving a rented sport-utility vehicle, the Associated Press reported. Initial reports over the weekend suggested that the incident was accidental or that the former student, Mohammed Reza Taheri-azar, was deranged. In court, however, Mr. Taheri-azar said he was “thankful for the opportunity to spread the will of Allah.” The AP quoted the university’s police chief as saying that the former student had said he acted to “avenge the deaths of Muslims around the world.” None of the nine Chapel Hill students was seriously injured.
