Wary of Religious Rules, Faculty at Mars Hill Blocks Would-Be President's Candidacy
Mars Hill College defused a controversy this month by promoting its interim president to the institution's permanent leadership position. The college acted after faculty members and students expressed concern that the leading candidate for the Baptist institution's top job would impose religious restrictions and curb academic freedom.
