At least two college students serving as reservists in the U.S. Marine Corps have died in the conflict with Iraq.
During the first week of the war, Cpl. Evan T. James, 20, a sophomore at Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville, was killed in action near the Saddam Canal, in Iraq. Corporal James, a combat engineer, apparently drowned, though the circumstances of his death are under investigation, said Mike Neumann, a media officer for the Marines.
