Wanted: Education, Not Job Training
To the Editor:
I just finished reading "Let's Make a Deal: Colleges Should Guarantee Student Loans," and I am laughing out loud (The Review, February 14). "Suppose a college does a shoddy job of educating its students so they fail in the labor market" -- I almost couldn't get through the rest of the essay after that line.
What I'm learning in college will have nothing to do with how I perform in my job. Nor should it. College is not trade school. I'm getting a liberal-arts
