Wake Forest President Announces Retirement
Wake Forest University's long-serving president, Thomas K. Hearn Jr., returned to work last week following surgery for a brain tumor and, in a meeting with university employees, said he would retire in June 2005.
Mr. Hearn, 66, who has been president since 1983, said the resignation had been planned for a while and was not related to his illness or his plans for continuing chemotherapy.
He has been on leave since his surgery, in December.
