Virginia Tech Takes 1,100 Macs and Turns Them Into a Supercomputer

A story is making the rounds at Virginia Tech about how the university cornered the market on new Power Mac G5 desktop computers just after Apple Computer began shipping them in August. Virginia Tech had ordered 1,100 of the first machines off the assembly line -- not to put on professors' desks, but to build a supercomputer.
