Police investigating yesterday’s massacre at Virginia Tech just announced that the gunman has been identified as Cho Seung-Hui, a 23-year-old English major at the university, according to CNN. Earlier today, the university’s president confirmed that the killer was a student.
The police also said that ballistics tests had demonstrated that the same weapon had been used in shootings at both a dormitory and a classroom building, a finding that would tend to disprove the theory that there may have been a second gunman. “There’s no evidence of any accomplice at either event,” a police officer said, “but we’re exploring the possibility” that Mr. Cho received assistance. —Andrew Mytelka
